Mission & Vision

Over the course of more than four decades of counseling, teaching, and healing work at The Whole Health Center, we have evolved a profoundly integrated and transformative vision of human development, and of the psychological and spiritual factors that contribute to the realization of a genuine human maturity.  Today, our programs and services utilize the findings of modern psychology and neuroscience, the practical and transformative teachings and technologies of the great wisdom traditions, and over a half century of personal experience, to support the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health and capacities of our clients and of our community.

We invite you, if you are so inclined, to read more deeply into the perspectives that are the foundation of our work.

1. Awakening The Truly Human

Our culture is in need of an emerging model of humanity that makes clear the true nature of our evolutionary potential as well as the true nature of our current dysfunctions.

3. Conscious Loving Presence

When we allow ourselves to simply rest at the heart – simply rest – relaxing all other phenomena of mind and emotion, what remains is a conscious loving presence. It is our default position.

2. The Blessing Way

When we bless something, we offer our desire and support that it flower and flourish; we consciously affirm and support the flowering of life in each person, and in each moment, into its fullest expression.

4. Compassion, Integration, and Healing

The capacity for love, compassion, and empathic attunement to self and others is a structural and functional capacity of our most evolved brain centers, and reflects the deepest potential of our human experience.  Buddhist tonglen practice involves a cognitive-behavioral restructuring that helps us to exercise this capacity.
